Research shows that teacher coaching improves instructional quality, boosts retention, and drives student growth.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cReading is a superpower,\u201d said <\/span><b>Dr. Carey M. Wright, State Superintendent of Schools<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u201cWhen we give children the ability to read, we unlock every other opportunity for them. This pilot is about equipping teachers with the tools and support they need to make that happen for every child.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThis initiative sets a gold standard for teacher support,\u201d said <\/span><b>Dr. Joshua Michael, State Board of Education President<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u201cIt reflects our commitment to ensuring every child has access to high-quality instruction. By investing in coaching, we are investing in both our educators and our students\u2019 futures.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">MSDE plans to add a second cohort of 15 coaches in PGCPS by fall, reinforcing its commitment to educator development and student success.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cHigh-quality coaching is one of the most powerful levers we have to accelerate student achievement\u2014especially in early literacy\u2014while strengthening teachers\u2019 practice and confidence,\u201d said <strong>Dr. Shawn Joseph, Prince George\u2019s County Public Schools\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Interim Superintendent<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u201cBy building coherence across classrooms and schools, we are ensuring every child in Prince George\u2019s County has access to excellent, evidence-based instruction, no matter their zip code.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Academic Excellence Program was established by the Maryland General Assembly in 2025. The pilot phase is supported by philanthropic funding. Gov.
