She was joined by Maryland State Superintendent of Schools Dr. Carey M. Wright, Maryland State Delegate Julie Palakovich-Carr, Montgomery County Councilmember Andrew Frierson, Councilmember Even Glass, Rockville Mayor Monique Ashton, State Board of Education member Samir Paul,\u00a0Montgomery County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Thomas Taylor, and members of the Montgomery County Public Schools Board of Education.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWhile walking the halls and visiting classrooms today in Rockville, I was truly inspired by the excitement of our young students as they start the next chapter in their educational journey,\u201d <\/span><b>said First Lady Moore. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cOur administration knows that our children are the future, and we remain committed to building a world-class public education system in Maryland that uplifts the hopes and dreams of every student.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The visits were part of the First Lady\u2019s ongoing commitment to uplifting Maryland\u2019s children and families by spotlighting innovative learning environments and the educators who make them thrive. At each school, the First Lady met with students, teachers, and administrators to learn more about their innovative learning environments \u2014 while highlighting the importance of student engagement, community connection, and educational excellence in Maryland\u2019s public schools.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dr. Wright emphasized the importance of presence and partnership in education.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWhen we show up for our students, we send a powerful message that their education matters,\u201d said <\/span><b>Dr. Wright<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u201cI\u2019m proud to join First Lady Moore in recognizing the dedication of Montgomery County educators and the promise of our students. Together, we are building a future where every child has the opportunity to succeed.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The First Lady\u2019s visit aligns with her broader efforts to promote children\u2019s mental health, educational equity, and community enrichment across Maryland. Supporting the administration, her office continues to work closely with state and local partners to ensure that schools are safe, inclusive, and empowering spaces for all students.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Moore-Miller administration is committed to ensuring that every child has the right to a high-quality education in Maryland. For the third year in a row, there have been historic investments in K-12 education, investing nearly $10 billion into public schools this year alone. Also this year, the Excellence in Maryland Public Schools Act was signed into law to support our educators by expanding debt-free pathways to becoming a teacher. The legislation also establishes a coaching model for educators to learn the best practices in teaching math and reading.
