Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History &amp; Culture<\/a>, 830 E. Pratt St.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The evening will commence with opening remarks from <a href=\"https:\/\/mayor.baltimorecity.gov\/people\/sonja-santelises\">Dr. Sonja Santelises<\/a>, Baltimore City Public Schools Chief Executive Officer. Following the film screening, there will be a panel discussion with State Superintendent of Education <a href=\"https:\/\/marylandpublicschools.org\/about\/pages\/os\/index.aspx\">Dr. Carey M. Wright<\/a>, documentary star and producer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fulcrumliteracy.org\/our-team\">Kareem Weaver<\/a>, and literacy expert and Senior Policy Fellow at ExcelinEd <a href=\"https:\/\/excelined.org\/people\/kymyona-burk-ed-d\/\">Dr. Kymyona Burk<\/a>. The conversation will be moderated by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.american.edu\/soe\/faculty\/pmoss.cfm\">Dr. Phelton Moss<\/a>, Professor at American University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are excited to share this incredible film with the community as it comes at a pivotal moment for education policy progress in Maryland,&#8221; said Dr. Wright. &#8220;Literacy is the cornerstone of learning and opportunity. This film underscores its vital importance in shaping the future of our students and our state.&#8221;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The Right to Read<\/em> shares the stories of an NAACP activist, a teacher, and two American families who fight to provide our youngest generation with the most foundational indicator of lifelong success: the ability to read.
