Owens Science Center; and the Center for Chesapeake Bay Ecosystem Research at Horn Point <\/strong>are 2015 Maryland summer center programs getting underway next week.<br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><br \/>\nThe<strong><em> 2015 Maryland Summer Centers Program<\/em><\/strong> continues a 48-year commitment at the State level to provide summer educational opportunities for Maryland\u2019s gifted and talented students. The program, coordinated through the Maryland State Department of Education, in partnership with public and nonpublic agencies, provides Maryland\u2019s diverse gifted and talented student population with advanced, rigorous, experiential learning opportunities that nurture these students\u2019 talents and abilities within unique learning environments. Nine centers will be held this summer.<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li><strong>The Center for Computer Science and Creativity<\/strong> will help students learn and program in computer languages, creating animations by using Java, C++ and Python.\u00a0 Students also will learn the valuable processes essential to programming.\u00a0 Students entering grades 3-8 will use the state-of-the-art computer labs at the Community College of Baltimore County\u2019s Essex Campus.\u00a0 The Center is funded, in part, by Northrop Grumman.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0July 6-17, 9 a.m. \u00a0\u2013 3 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Community College of Baltimore County &#8211; Essex Campus<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a07201 Rossville Boulevard<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Rosedale, MD 21237<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0410-887-2063<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li><strong>The Center for Space Engineering: Robotics <\/strong>focuses on designing, building, and testing robots that use sensors to conduct missions.\u00a0 Students in small engineering teams brainstorm, collaborate, and implement solutions to robotic challenges.\u00a0 Students will have access to the Challenger Learning Center, NASA\u2019s Goddard Space Flight Center\u2019s Science on a Sphere, and the Planetarium.
