{"id":802,"date":"2015-08-27T00:26:21","date_gmt":"2015-08-27T04:26:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/msde\/?p=802"},"modified":"2015-10-27T15:35:36","modified_gmt":"2015-10-27T19:35:36","slug":"08_27_2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/msde\/08_27_2015\/","title":{"rendered":"Actions of the State Board, August 25, 2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For Immediate Release \u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Contact: William Reinhard, 410-767-0486<\/p>\n<p>Baltimore, MD<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><strong><br \/>\nAugust 25, 2015 State Board of Education Meeting<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>At the August 25, 2015 meeting of the Maryland State Board of Education, the following actions were taken:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Welcomed the following new members to the State Board: Stephanie Iszard and Laura Weeldreyer.\u00a0 Also, acknowledged members leaving Board Service: Luisa Montero-Diaz and Sayed Naved.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Approved the 2016 State Board meeting dates (<a title=\"Approved the 2016 State Board meeting dates\" href=\"http:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/msde\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2015\/10\/Tab-K-2016BoardMeetingDates.pdf\">attached<\/a>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Granted permission to re-propose amendments to COMAR 13A.08.02.01, 13A.08.01.01(E) and 13A.02.06.02B(9) to incorporate by reference the Maryland Student Records System Manual August 2016, Revised.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Selected Chester E. Finn, Andy Smarick and Madhu Sidhu in response to request to provide State Board representation on a workgroup tasked to create appropriate standards and criteria for assessment of public charter schools by local boards of education as required by Education Article \u00a79-104.1.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Adopted the FY2017 Capital Budget and the Five-Year Capital Improvement Program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The next meeting of the Maryland State Board of Education will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at the Nancy S.
