{"id":749,"date":"2015-09-21T00:00:38","date_gmt":"2015-09-21T04:00:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/msde\/?p=749"},"modified":"2015-10-16T15:31:44","modified_gmt":"2015-10-16T19:31:44","slug":"09_21_2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/msde\/09_21_2015\/","title":{"rendered":"Federal Grant Will Strengthen Data System To Improve Instruction"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><em>MSDE, MLDSC, MHEC, DLLR, USM Project Receives Nearly $7 Million<\/em><\/h3>\n<p>For Immediate Release<\/p>\n<p>Contact: Bill Reinhard, MSDE, 410-767-0486, Phyllis Reese, MHEC, 410-767-7589<\/p>\n<p>Baltimore, MD<\/p>\n<p>Maryland has been awarded a four-year, $6.9 million federal grant designed to further improve data-based instruction across the State.\u00a0 The State will receive $1.15 million in the first year.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Department of Education made the announcement today.\u00a0 Maryland received the competitive grant under the Statewide Data Systems program of the U.S. Department of Education, which enables State education agencies to design, develop, and implement longitudinal data systems to efficiently and accurately manage and use data.<\/p>\n<p>Maryland\u2019s project will better link educational databases, from PreK to higher education, to improve outcomes for students.\u00a0 The project targets improving state capacity for utilizing data for instruction across the State\u2019s educational spectrum.
