BALTIMORE \u2013 The Maryland State Board of Education will hold its regular meeting on Tuesday, August 22, at the Maryland State Department of Education, 200 W. Baltimore Street, Baltimore. It will be held in the State Board room on the 7th floor beginning at 9 a.m. <\/p>\n

9:03 a.m.\tEvery Student Succeeds Act
\nThe Maryland State Board of Education is nearing completion on the State\u2019s plan for the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). MSDE published its second draft of the full ESSA plan on June 29 and received public comment on the draft through August 10, receiving more than 400 survey responses and more than 30 new letters. Maryland must submit its final plan to the US Department of Education on or before September 18.<\/p>\n
2:30 p.m.\tState Assessment Results
\nPARCC assessment results for the spring 2017 administration will be released. These were assessments in English Language Arts and Mathematics in grades 3-8, plus high school assessments in Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, and in English 10, 11 and 12. The rigorous assessments have been administered to Maryland students for the past three years.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
