BALTIMORE — Maryland State Department of Education leaders will join staff from the Washington County Public Schools will celebrate Maryland\u2019s improving career and technical education (CTE) programs in a visit to two WCPS facilities.<\/p>\n
The visit is part of MSDE\u2019s celebration of Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month throughout February. CTE Month places a spotlight on the important role that CTE programs play in helping students prepare for a successful future, and in helping Maryland\u2019s economy grow.<\/p>\n
Maryland has placed a special focus on strengthening CTE. Governor Hogan last year announced the State\u2019s first P-TECH program, which provides both secondary and postsecondary career training for students. In addition, the Hogan administration has launched \u201cApprenticeship Maryland,\u201d a collaborative program involving MSDE, the Department of Commerce, and the Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation. <\/p>\n
