BALTIMORE–Maryland Lt. Governor Boyd K. Rutherford and Dr. Karen Salmon, State Superintendent of Schools, will celebrate Maryland\u2019s improving career and technical education (CTE) programs in a visit next Monday to Anne Arundel County\u2019s Center for Applied Technology-North.<\/p>\n
The Lt. Governor and State Superintendent will be joined by Anne Arundel Schools Superintendent George Arlotto, who will help lead a tour of the facility. Students and industry leaders will demonstrate technical equipment and describe the importance of high quality CTE for the State\u2019s business community.<\/p>\n
Maryland has placed a special focus on strengthening CTE. Governor Hogan last year announced the State\u2019s first P-TECH program, which provides both secondary and postsecondary career training for students. In addition, the Hogan administration has launched \u201cApprenticeship Maryland,\u201d a collaborative program involving MSDE, the Department of Commerce, and the Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation.
