BALTIMORE –The Maryland State Department of Education has scheduled a listening session in Cambridge next Tuesday to gather ideas for the State\u2019s plan for the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).<\/p>\n
Each State is in the process of updating its plans for school and student improvement in compliance with ESSA. Maryland has been developing its plan with broad stakeholder input for more than a year. The Dorchester County visit, the second in MSDE\u2019s listening tour, takes place on January 10.<\/p>\n
A draft of Maryland\u2019s ESSA plan, along with a brief survey, was posted last month on the MSDE website, MarylandPublicSchools.org. The State Board of Education will make final decisions and approve the plan for submission to the U.S. Department of Education this summer.<\/p>\n
