The Maryland State Board of Education will hold its regular meeting on Tuesday, December 16<\/strong>, at the Maryland State Department of Education, 200 W. Baltimore Street, Baltimore.\u00a0 The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. in the State Board room.\u00a0 Items on this month\u2019s agenda include the following:<\/p>\n

9:40 a.m.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0High School Assessments<\/strong>
\nThe State Board will hear a report on the graduating class of 2014, including their success on the High School Assessment requirement.<\/p>\n

10 a.m.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Graduation Requirements<\/strong>
\nThe State Board is scheduled to act on revised graduation requirements made necessary by the new PARCC assessments. As proposed in October, the planned regulations would delay the use of the PARCC tests in English 10 and algebra I as graduation requirement for students taking the courses this school year and next.<\/p>\n

11:10 a.m.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Charter Schools<\/strong>
\nThe State Board will hear about the results of a study of Maryland\u2019s charter schools, prepared by researchers from the University of Baltimore\u2019s Schaefer Center for Public Policy.<\/p>\n

11:40 a.m.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Maryland Business Roundtable<\/strong>
\nThe State Board will welcome retiring MBRT Executive Director June Streckfus and her successor, Dr. Dean Ertwine. A retired Brigadier General, Dr. Ertwine takes over the reins of the organization on Jan. 1.<\/p>\n
