The day-long event will honor and celebrate the impact of arts education in Maryland.<\/p>\n<p><strong>WHO:<\/strong> Maryland First Lady Yumi Hogan<\/p>\n<p>Maryland State Department of Education\u2014Office of Fine Arts<\/p>\n<p>Maryland State Arts Council<\/p>\n<p>Arts Education in Maryland Schools Alliance<\/p>\n<p>Baltimore Office of Promotion &amp; the Arts<\/p>\n<p>Hippodrome Theater<\/p>\n<p><strong>WHAT:<\/strong> The Maryland State Department of Education-Office of Fine Arts in partnership with the Office of First Lady Yumi Hogan, the Maryland State Arts Council, the Arts Education in Maryland Schools Alliance, and the Baltimore Office of Promotion &amp; the Arts will host the second-annual Best of Maryland Arts Education Festival. The festival will take place in fine art venues throughout Baltimore City\u2019s historic Mount Vernon district and will feature performances from 350 students and small ensembles from 14 of Maryland\u2019s local school systems. Art from across the board will be represented, with performances ranging from music, to theater, to dance, to visual and media art. Venue partners include Baltimore Center Stage, Walters Art Museum, Peabody Conservatory, Mount Vernon Place United Methodist Church, and Saint Ignatius Church. Opening and closing ceremonies take place at the centerpiece of Mount Vernon, the Washington Monument. The opening ceremony will feature a special performance selection from the musical <em>Come From Away<\/em> thanks to a partnership with the Hippodrome Theater.
