The Maryland State Board of Education will hold its monthly meeting on Friday, June 27<\/strong>, at the Maryland State Department of Education, 200 W. Baltimore Street, Baltimore.\u00a0 The meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the State Board room.\u00a0 Items on this month\u2019s agenda include the following:<\/p>\n

8:45 a.m.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Nutrition Standards<\/strong>
\nThe State Board will be asked to approve new nutrition standards for all foods sold in schools.\u00a0 The standards are based on based on both federal and State guidance on nutrition and would go into effect on July 1.<\/p>\n

9:05 a.m. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Educator Evaluation<\/strong>
\nThe State Board will consider publishing proposed regulations that would replace regulations set to sunset at the end of September.\u00a0 Those regulations update current practice and include student growth provisions.<\/p>\n

10:10 a.m.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Student Learning Objectives<\/strong>
\nThe State Board of Education and the State Superintendent of Schools, and various education organizations will sign a memorandum of understanding to formalize a shared commitment to further strengthen educator evaluation through the Student Learning Objective (SLO) process.<\/p>\n

11:15 a.m.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Executive Session<\/strong>
\nThe Board will adjourn to closed session to deliberate legal appeals.<\/p>\n

12:15 p.m.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 State Board Retreat<\/strong>
\nThe State Board is scheduled reconvene in a retreat for the afternoon.\u00a0 The first segment of the retreat will focus on a topic that is subject to Executive Privilege and an internal management item.\u00a0 This segment will be conducted in closed session. At 3:15 p.m. the session will be opened to the public for a discussion of a comprehensive review of regulations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
