The Maryland State Board of Education will hold its regular meeting on Tuesday, February 24<\/strong>, at the Maryland State Department of Education, 200 W. Baltimore Street, Baltimore. It will be held in the State Board room on the 7th floor, beginning at 9 a.m.<\/p>\n

Items on the agenda include the following:<\/p>\n

9:40 a.m.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 ESEA Flexibility<\/strong>
\nThe State Board will be provided with an update on MSDE\u2019s renewal request for its flexibility waiver from the U.S. Department of Education\u2019s Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA).\u00a0 MSDE staff plan to return to the State Board in March to request the State Board\u2019s approval of the Department\u2019s proposed request, which would last through the 2017-18 school year unless Congress reauthorizes ESEA.<\/p>\n

10:45 a.m.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Title I Distinguished School<\/strong>
\nThe State Board will recognize Anne Arundel\u2019s Belle Grove Elementary School, Maryland\u2019s 2014-15 National Title I Distinguished School.\u00a0 Belle Grove continues to strengthen achievement among economically disadvantaged students.<\/p>\n

11 a.m.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Educator Ratings<\/strong>
\nThe State Board will hear a report from WestEd on educator performance and its correlation to component measures of local system evaluation systems.<\/p>\n

1:45 p.m.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Arts Education<\/strong>
\nThe State Board will be presented with the report on the Governor\u2019s P-20 Leadership Council Task Force on Arts Education in Maryland Schools.\u00a0 Mary Ann Mears, founder and trustee, Arts Education in Maryland Schools Alliance, and Dr. Jack Smith, MSDE\u2019s Chief Academic Officer, co-chaired the task force and will present the findings.<\/p>\n

2:35 p.m.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Student Learning Outcomes<\/strong>
