Events Set for April 17-18<\/em><\/h3>\n

Nearly 1,000 students from throughout the State will compete this weekend in the 42nd Annual SkillsUSA Maryland Leadership and Skills Conference.<\/p>\n

Students will display their abilities in everything from automotive collision repair to television production design in the Statewide competition.\u00a0 Winners will head to the national SkillsUSA competition in Louisville this coming June.<\/p>\n

Career\/Technology Education, and the need to fill the jobs of tomorrow, represent a driving force behind the success of SkillsUSA.\u00a0 Two recent Maryland reports from the Maryland Economic Development and Business Climate Commission<\/a> and the Abell Foundation<\/a> have called for improved career training and apprenticeship programs.<\/p>\n

SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers, and industry working together to ensure the nation has a skilled workforce.\u00a0 The annual competitions showcase the best career and technical education students.\u00a0 Maryland has 5,500 students involved in SkillsUSA across 21 school systems.<\/p>\n
