It\u2019s Shorter.<\/h3>\n

It\u2019s Easier for Teachers to Administer.<\/h3>\n

It Takes Less Time Away from Lessons.<\/h3>\n

It Still Keeps Kids On Track for College and Careers.<\/h3>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

What\u2019s changing on the test?<\/em><\/h3>\n

There are three helpful changes:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Instead of two \u201cwindows\u201d of testing in the spring, there will be just one window for English Language Arts and Math\u2014all done in 1 month or less.<\/li>\n
  2. The tests will be shorter for all grades\u2014by about 90 minutes overall.<\/li>\n
  3. Kids will sit down to take PARCC fewer times\u20146 or 7 sessions, instead of 8 or 9.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    How will these changes improve the PARCC experience?<\/em><\/h3>\n

    Kids will spend less time testing. Teachers will have an easier time planning because the testing schedule is streamlined. Everybody\u2019s normal routine will be far less disrupted. And the testing will be over much more quickly.<\/p>\n

    Will the changes make PARCC less effective?<\/em><\/h3>\n

    No. The test will include fewer questions overall\u2014but it\u2019s still a very valid and reliable way to see who is ready to move ahead in school, and who needs extra support. These changes mean PARCC will be more feasible\u2014more practical\u2014so it fits into the school day better.<\/p>\n

    What is the schedule for PARCC in 2016?<\/em><\/h3>\n

    Your school sets the exact calendar for PARCC. But the good news is, one testing window means it all happens in one 30-day period, close to the end of the semester or the school year.<\/p>\n
