Baltimore County Superintendent Receives National Leadership Award

BALTIMORE (February 24, 2026) – Today, the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) and State Board of Education honored Baltimore County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Myriam Rogers for receiving the National Women in School Leadership Award from AASA, The School Superintendents Association. This honor celebrates women superintendents who exemplify visionary leadership, equity-driven practices, and a steadfast commitment to student success.

Dr. Rogers was selected for her transformative leadership in advancing academic achievement, strengthening community partnerships, and ensuring equitable access to high-quality education for all students. Since her appointment as superintendent in 2023, she has championed initiatives focused on literacy, college and career readiness, and comprehensive student support.

“Dr. Rogers is an outstanding leader whose work reflects the very best of Maryland education,” said Dr. Carey Wright, State Superintendent of Schools. “Her dedication to students and educators, combined with her strategic approach to systemwide improvement, is making a measurable difference in Baltimore County and setting a powerful example for districts across the nation.”

“We are thrilled to see Dr. Rogers recognized on a national stage,” said Dr. Joshua L. Michael, State Board of Education President. “Her leadership embodies the values of equity, excellence, and innovation that we strive for in Maryland. This achievement is a testament to her vision and the hard work of the entire Baltimore County Public Schools community.”

The Women in School Leadership Award highlights Dr. Rogers’ success in fostering collaboration among educators, families, and community stakeholders, as well as her commitment to data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.

Earlier this month, Dr. Rogers was honored during the AASA National Conference on Education in Nashville, Tenn.
