Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) Holds Annual Teach Maryland Conference

 450 High School Students from 13 School Districts Attending a Conference Designed to Encourage Youth to Pursue Careers in Education

 

BALTIMORE (March 11, 2024) – On Tuesday, March 12, the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) will welcome 450 high school students from 13 school districts to the annual Teach Maryland Conference, designed to encourage young people to pursue careers in education. 

The conference will be held at the Sheraton Baltimore North Hotel in Towson from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Keynote speakers include 2023 National Teacher of the Year Rebecka Peterson and Maryland Teacher of the Year Mary Kay Connerton. Dr. Carey M. Wright, Interim State Superintendent of Schools, will bring greetings. 

Topics will include features on inspiring educational journeys, STEM education, diversity and equity, and supporting a diversity of learning needs, such as multilingualism, students who are at risk, and students with disabilities. Local Teachers of the Year and Milken Educator Award winners will be among the presenters.
