Maryland State Board of Education to Meet on Tuesday, October 22

BALTIMORE  – The Maryland State Board of Education will hold its regular meeting on Tuesday, October 22, at the Maryland State Department of Education, 200 W. Baltimore Street, Baltimore.  The meeting will be held in the State Board room on the 7th floor, beginning at 9 a.m.

Items on this month’s regular agenda include (times approximate):

10:25 a.m.       Recognition of 2019 Principal and Assistant Principal of the Year

The State Board will recognize the 2019 National Distinguished Principal and Assistant Principal of the Year. Each year, the Maryland Association of Elementary School Principals selects candidates to represent Maryland at the elementary school level.

2:00 p.m.         Teacher Recruitment Digital Campaign     

An update on MSDE’s progress in implementing the “Teach in Maryland” Digital Recruitment Campaign will be presented to the State Board. This campaign is part of House Bill 1415, established in order to grow and diversify Maryland’s teaching workforce. The Board will see a highlights video from the Inaugural Rising Toward Excellence Teach in Maryland Conference, which took place in Linthicum on October 17, 2019.
