Maryland State Board of Education to Meet on Tuesday, June 25

BALTIMORE – The Maryland State Board of Education will hold its regular meeting on Tuesday, June 25, at the Maryland State Department of Education, 200 W. Baltimore Street, Baltimore.  The meeting will be held in the State Board room on the 7th floor, beginning at 9 a.m.

9:40 a.m.         High School Graduation Taskforce

The State Board will be provided with a timeline for review and action on the recommendations of the Maryland High School Graduation Taskforce. This taskforce was first convened in January 2018 at the request of the State Board in order to make ongoing recommendations on high school graduation requirements in Maryland.

 

Federal Striving Readers Comprehensive Literacy (SRCL) Grant  

The State Board will receive an update on the implementation of the Federal Striving Readers Comprehensive Literacy (SRCL) Grant, the update will provide a summary of outcomes across the state as a result of the grant. This grant was awarded to Maryland as a means to improve literacy skills, reading, and writing for children birth through grade 12.
