Maryland State Board of Education to Meet on Tuesday, February 27

BALTIMORE – The Maryland State Board of Education will hold its regular meeting on Tuesday, February 27, at the Maryland State Department of Education, 200 W. Baltimore Street, Baltimore. It will be held in the State Board room on the 7th floor beginning at 9 a.m.

Items on this month’s agenda include the following (times approximate):

9:35 a.m. Bridge Plan for Academic Validation

The State Board will discuss and review recommendations related to the Bridge Plan, Maryland’s project based alternative to the high school assessments in algebra, English 10, biology, and government.

11 a.m. Early Childhood Education

The State Board will hear a report on Maryland’s early childhood system and the multiple strategies being used to improve early learning throughout the State.

1:45 p.m. Maryland State Assessments

The State Superintendent will provide an overview of the state’s assessment system as it evolves to provide students, parents, educators, and the community with better student information at a faster pace.

2 p.m. Prince George’s Audit

The State Superintendent and the State Board will provide follow-up to last month’s response by the Prince George’s County Public Schools to the independent audit of its graduation rates.
