Maryland State Board of Education to Meet on Tuesday, December 5

BALTIMORE – The Maryland State Board of Education will hold its regular meeting on Tuesday, December 5, at the Maryland State Department of Education, 200 W. Baltimore Street, Baltimore. It will be held in the State Board room on the 7th floor beginning at 9 a.m.

In addition, the State Board will hold a work session on Monday, December 4, beginning at 10 a.m. Board members are expected to take an in-depth look at both the Bridge Plan for Academic Validation and the upcoming social studies assessment.

Items on this month’s regular agenda include the following (times approximate):

10:20 a.m. Financial Literacy

The State Board will hear a report on Maryland’s Personal Financial Literacy Education Program. All 24 Maryland systems have instituted some form of financial literacy education.

11:45 a.m. Robotics Utilization

Anne Arundel Superintendent Dr. George Arlotto will share with the State Board his system’s Robotics Utilization program.

2 p.m. Blue Ribbon Schools

The State Board will announce and recognize Maryland’s newest State Blue Ribbon Schools. All six public schools will be nominated for the National Blue Ribbon in 2018.
