Maryland State Board of Education to Hold Public Meeting on September 26, 2023

Agenda includes a Blueprint Deep Dive Presentation of the College and Career Readiness (CCR) Empirical Study Final Report and an Update on Blueprint Implementation

BALTIMORE (September 22, 2023) – The Maryland State Board of Education will meet at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, September 26, at the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE), 200 W. Baltimore Street in the 7th floor State Board Room.

During the meeting, MSDE will continue its Blueprint Deep Dive series by presenting the results and recommendations of the final report from the College and Career Readiness (CCR) study. Conducted by the American Institutes for Research (AIR), the final report is a combination and update of both the Predictive Validity and Content and Standards Alignment Analysis interim reports. The research study investigated the alignment between K-12 content standards and postsecondary expectations, as well as how well the interim CCR standard and alternative specifications of the CCR standard predicted postsecondary progress.

In addition, the State Board will receive an update on the implementation of the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future. This is a recurring series that highlights MSDE’s progress in implementing initiatives connected to the Blueprint. This presentation will include updates on the Fast Track Child Care Scholarship Application and the Blueprint Statewide Finance and Student Data System.

The State Board welcomes public comment during Board meetings, which can be provided both in-person and virtually according to guidelines for participation. Registration is limited to 10 individuals and is first come, first served. Once the 10-person maximum is reached, additional individuals may be placed on a waiting list.

Registration for public comment opens the week prior to the Board meeting date and ends at 3 p.m. on Monday, September 25. Interested individuals can register by completing this online form.

Confirmed registrants for public comment will be notified. Comments are limited to three minutes per speaker and monitored by staff.
