Maryland Educator Receives Arts Education Honor
MSDE’s Kenneth Skrzesz Receives Award
BALTIMORE – Kenneth Skrzesz, Coordinator of Fine Arts Education for the Maryland State Department of Education, has been named Outstanding Advocate and Champion of Dance by the Maryland-DC-Virginia Area Dance Educators Association.
Skrzesz received the award in Washington, DC, last weekend after delivering the keynote at the National Dance Education Organization Conference.
A long-time educator, actor, and dancer, Skrzesz’s background includes teaching at the George Washington Carver Center for Arts and Technology in Baltimore County and the Performing and Visual Arts Magnet Schools of Anne Arundel County. Skrzesz also served as executive director of the Clear Space Theater Company in Rehoboth, DE, from 2004 to 2012. Early in his career he served as Director of Student Life at the School of American Ballet and as Artistic Director of the Kinetics Dance Company.
Skrzesz joined MSDE in 2014, where he leads the state’s programs, projects, and initiatives in fine arts education in the Department’s Division of Curriculum, Assessment, and Accountability.
