The concert culminates a statewide Choral Workshop for Maryland’s music educators and community musicians that will be led by Stellar Award-winning, international gospel artist Donald Lawrence. The workshop aims to authentically build skills and techniques for Maryland music educators to explore music from the American gospel canon and to strengthen linkages between music classrooms and music making in the community.
The workshop is part of the new Maryland Masterclass Series, a professional development program from the Office of Fine Arts for music, visual arts, dance, theatre, and media arts educators statewide. The series brings world-class Master Artists to Maryland for curated professional development sessions that center experiential learning through creating and connecting. The Maryland Masterclass Series is part of the Office of Fine Arts of the Maryland State Department of Education’s professional development suite, Maryland Centers for Creative Classrooms (MC3).
