Pinsky.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> \u201cBy providing incentives for a wide range of larger vehicles, from farm equipment to fire trucks, the Maryland Energy Administration is making sure that the ongoing shift to emissions-free electric vehicles does not stop with passenger cars.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Offered for the first time in Fiscal Year 2024, the Medium-Duty and Heavy-Duty Zero-Emission Vehicle Grant Program invested $8.6 million in new commercial and industrial vehicles state-wide. When fully deployed, the combined impact of these grants will be to cut tailpipe emissions equivalent to more than 500 tanker trucks full of gasoline.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Fiscal Year 2025 Program Highlights:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Grant Coverage:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Grants cover up to 75% of the incremental cost of eligible vehicles and equipment.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Eligible Uses:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Funding can be used for the purchase of qualified, newly manufactured medium-duty or heavy-duty zero-emission vehicles and qualified zero-emission heavy equipment for commercial or industrial use. This includes electric vehicles and hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Successful Fiscal Year 2024 Projects:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Sysco Corporation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">: Replacing 10 battery-electric tractors in Maryland that will use overnight and opportunity charging at its Jessup facility, with new private access charging infrastructure stationed on-site.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>City of New Carrollton:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Funded an electric vehicle for senior and handicap transportation, providing cleaner and more efficient transportation options.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Frederick County Government:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Introduced an electric fire truck and additional electric buses, demonstrating a commitment to environmental sustainability.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>How to Apply:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Applications for the FY25 Medium- and Heavy-Duty Zero-Emission Vehicle Grant Program will close on January 31, 2025 at 5:00 PM EST.
