Contact:\u00a0Tim Zink<\/a>\u00a0| 443-758-7344<\/p>\n New effort aims to <\/span><\/i>cut pollution and educate Marylanders on clean household options like electric heat pumps, water heaters, stoves, clothes dryers and other appliances<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n BALTIMORE \u2013 The Maryland Energy Administration today announced a <\/span>Request for Information<\/span><\/a> for community-based organizations and county and municipal governments that wish to educate residents on the benefits of electrification measures in residential single-family homes and multifamily buildings.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n This new outreach program is being developed as a result of Maryland\u2019s commitment to promoting electrification measures in Maryland households, especially in low- and moderate-income, historically overburdened and underserved communities in Maryland. It also supports the Maryland General Assembly\u2019s passage of the WARMTH Act of 2024, which launched the networked geothermal pilot project being planned by the state\u2019s two largest gas utility companies.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThe foundation of whole-home electrification efforts in the state is education,\u201d <\/span>said Maryland Energy Administration Director Paul G. Pinsky. <\/b>\u201cThe agency is seeking to support trusted community partners to inform residents about the ins and outs of electric heating and cooling options, plus electric clothes dryers and stoves.
