{"id":6251,"date":"2024-09-23T10:30:05","date_gmt":"2024-09-23T14:30:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/mea\/?p=6251"},"modified":"2024-09-23T10:23:59","modified_gmt":"2024-09-23T14:23:59","slug":"maryland-energy-administration-requests-public-input-on-more-equitable-electric-vehicle-supply-equipment-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/mea\/2024\/09\/23\/maryland-energy-administration-requests-public-input-on-more-equitable-electric-vehicle-supply-equipment-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Maryland Energy Administration Requests Public Input on More Equitable Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE<\/p>\n<p>Contact:\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:timothy.zink@maryland.gov\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tim Zink<\/a>\u00a0| 443-758-7344<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">New effort aims to <\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">reduce transportation greenhouse gas emissions and increase access to affordable, reliable EV charging networks in under-resourced Maryland communities<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">BALTIMORE \u2013 The Maryland Energy Administration today announced a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/energy.maryland.gov\/SiteAssets\/Pages\/EVSEEquity\/FY%202025%20EVSE%20Equity%20Program%20-%20NOI%20-%208.30.2024.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Notice of Intent <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">to launch a new<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment Equity Program for Fiscal Year 2025.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> The agency also has issued a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/energy.maryland.gov\/SiteAssets\/Pages\/EVSEEquity\/Maryland%20EVSE%20Equity%20RFI%20-%208.1.2024.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Request for Information<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> for electric vehicle stakeholders and the general public to inform the final design of the program.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This new program is being developed as a result of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/governor.maryland.gov\/news\/press\/pages\/governor-moore-announces-90-million-to-support-mooremiller-administration%E2%80%99s-climate-agenda.aspx\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Governor Moore\u2019s commitment<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> to invest $23 million in electric vehicle charging infrastructure in low- and moderate income, historically overburdened and underserved communities in Maryland.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThis new program is all about making EVs accessible to Marylanders who live in often-overlooked neighborhoods or in multi-family housing situations where accessing EV charging can be difficult,\u201d <\/span><b>said Maryland Energy Administration Director Paul G. MEA requests that responses be submitted by Wednesday, October 23, 2024 in order for comments to be considered for the FY 2025 program.
