The Supply Chain Advancement award recognizes a company or public sector entity that is making a lasting contribution to the advancement of the offshore wind energy supply chain. MEA accepted the award at the annual gala held in Washington, D.C.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cMEA is pleased to be recognized by the Business Network and the offshore wind industry for its efforts to establish an offshore wind supply chain and trained workforce in Maryland,\u201d said Mary Beth Tung, Ph.D., Esq., Director of MEA. \u201cOur efforts will ensure that Maryland&#8217;s offshore wind projects will be built by hard working Marylanders.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cMaryland is setting the standard for what states can do to help set up a supply chain,\u201d said Liz Burdock, CEO of the Business Network for Offshore Wind. \u201cMaryland Energy Administration\u2019s capital and workforce programs are already producing success after success by helping businesses and training centers scale up, grow the workforce, and win contracts in this competitive environment.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">MEA has worked to help establish an offshore wind supply chain in Maryland by taking a holistic whole-of-government approach to ensure that Maryland Tier 2 and 3 businesses can successfully enter the industry and that workforce training centers have the resources they need to train future generations of manufacturers and technicians. MEA has promoted diversity and inclusion while ensuring participation from minority- and veteran-owned businesses, communities, and individuals. These actions have increased the accessibility of this once in a generational opportunity.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">MEA\u2019s offshore wind supply chain efforts are supported by several sister agencies, including the Maryland Department of Commerce, Maryland Department of Labor, and the Governor\u2019s Office of Small, Minority, Woman Business Affairs. MEA thanks these agencies for their support.
