Contact:\u00a0Jahmai Sharp-Moore<\/a>\u00a0| 443-694-3651<\/p>\n Baltimore, MD –\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/span>The Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) announced today the opening of the Fiscal Year 23 (FY23)<\/span> Public Facility Solar Grant Program<\/span><\/a>. This program provides funding to state, county, and local government entities (including public universities, community colleges or public schools) to install rooftop solar arrays on existing government buildings, or to install solar canopies over existing parking lots\/parking garages owned or controlled by a government entity. Funded through the<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Strategic Energy Investment Fund<\/span><\/a>, the program encourages solar development on public buildings to reduce the production of greenhouse gasses and to lower long term government energy costs.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cMEA is pleased to encourage the generation of solar energy at public facilities through this program,\u201d said Dr. Mary Beth Tung, director of the Maryland Energy Administration. \u201cThese solar projects will demonstrate government support of a clean and renewable energy generation technology.\u200b\u200b\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n The program provides funding assistance for small solar projects (<50 kW) directly owned by the government entity, as well as assistance for larger projects funded through a power purchase agreement with a third party.
