Pictured above are Town of Berlin Mayor Zack Tyndall, Electric Utility Director Tim Lawrence and other Town of Berlin staff; representatives from MEA including Chief of Staff Chris Rice and program managers Abigail Antonini and Briggs Cunningham, and the Carter CAT team that implemented the project on behalf of the Town. The Town of Berlin project was the first to be completed under MEA\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/energy.maryland.gov\/govt\/Pages\/PublicFacilitySolarGrantProgram.aspx\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Public Facility Solar Grant Program<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. T<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">his program provides grant funding to State, County or Municipal government entities to support the planning and installation of solar arrays on existing infrastructure of public facilities.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Town of Berlin received <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">approximately $120,000 in <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">grant funds from MEA for the installation of its 48.9kW solar rooftop array on the Electrical Department Office Building and an adjacent building. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Berlin is a unique entity as it is both municipality and utility, and this array will help identify ways to incorporate solar into the Town\u2019s grid. This project can also serve as an example to other municipal utilities.
