During Clean Energy Week MEA launched the Maryland Smart Energy Communities Program (MSEC) for FY22.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Now in its 10th year, the MSEC program is open to any incorporated town, city, municipal or county government in Maryland. <\/span>The program supports\u200b local governments as they adopt smart-energy policies and commit to them for the long term. Communities will benefit from sustained reduction of energy usage, cost savings, and additional opportunities for renewable energy development.\u200b\u00a0 Local governments participating in this program are eligible for grants to help implement the projects they identify to advance progress towards their policy commitments.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In FY21 the MSEC program awarded more than $750,000 to 16 grantees to assist in funding 22 energy projects that will result in significant cost savings and stimulate economic activity. For more information click<\/span> here<\/b><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The FY22 program has a total anticipated budget of $1,030,000, that will be available for projects involving energy efficiency, renewable energy, and transportation fuel-reduction. Applications will be accepted until Friday, November 12, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. Projects must meet all eligibility requirements to be considered for award funding.
