These savings can be reinvested into the community\u2019s infrastructure, buildings or programs to benefit all residents. <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/energy.maryland.gov\/govt\/Pages\/smartenergycommunities.aspx\">Maryland Smart Energy Communities (MSEC)<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> program helps communities achieve long term, sustainable energy goals via energy efficiency, renewable energy development and transportation-related fossil fuel reduction.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Currently, there are 78 MSEC communities across the state who have committed to sustainable goals and partnered with the state on a variety of energy projects from HVAC upgrades to public transportation overhauls.
