Expanding Maryland\u2019s EV charging infrastructure is critical to reaching our state\u2019s goal of 300,000 zero emission vehicles (ZEVs) on the roads by 2025.Replacing traditional fossil fuel cars with ZEVs will improve Maryland\u2019s air quality. Just over 25,742 EVs are registered in the state and Maryland is working to convert the state\u2019s fleet vehicles. The total cost of EV ownership is lower due to lower maintenance cost and cheaper fuel \/ charging options.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A large and easily accessible EV charging network is essential to alleviate \u201crange anxiety\u201d which is the fear that the driver will not be able to reach its destination. Eliminated range anxiety will help to encourage more drivers to consider purchasing an EV.\u00a0 To date, MEA has helped incentivize <strong>over 4,800<\/strong> public and residential chargers via programs like the <a href=\"https:\/\/energy.maryland.gov\/transportation\/Pages\/incentives_evserebate.aspx\"><strong>Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment Rebate Program<\/strong><\/a><strong>, <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/energy.maryland.gov\/transportation\/Pages\/incentives_evip.aspx\"><strong>Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Program<\/strong><\/a><strong>,<\/strong> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/energy.maryland.gov\/transportation\/Pages\/afip.aspx\"><strong>Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Program<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Maryland was just ranked 4th in the nation for the state\u2019s action to expand EV use.
