Baltimore, MD<\/strong> – Camden Yards is the proud host of Baltimore\u2019s newest electric vehicle charging stations, providing locals and visitors with a vital resource for the growing number of EVs on Maryland roads. \u201cWe are proud to bring more EV charging stations to key locations in Maryland like the Camden Yards complex,\u201d said Mary Beth Tung, Maryland Energy Administration Director. \u201cExpanding the State\u2019s EV charging system infrastructure benefits drivers and local businesses,\u201d she continued.\u00a0 \u201cIt is a prime example of how we are advancing the efforts of the Maryland Clean Cities Coalition<\/a>,\u201d<\/p>\n

A total of 9 EV charging stations: 8 Level 2 chargers and one Level 3 charger were installed by the Electric Vehicle Institute (EVI)<\/a>. Charging stations are located throughout the 85 acre Camden Yards campus.\u00a0This program was made possible by a grant from Maryland Energy Administration\u2019s Electric\u00a0Vehicle Supply Equipment Rebate (EVSE) Program and was completed in partnership with the Maryland Stadium Authority (MSA)<\/a>.<\/p>\n

MSA installed comprehensive EVSE charging infrastructure to provide game day fans and patrons of the Camden Yards parking facilities robust charging capability. “Camden Yards is not only conveniently located to downtown Baltimore and transportation outlets, it is a safe place to visit at any hour,” noted Maryland Stadium Authority chairman Thomas Kelso. \u00a0“With 24 hour security and surveillance, our complex permits visitors to leave their vehicles and enjoy the city while they wait.\u201d<\/p>\n

Additionally, MEA offers funding for charging stations under the Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Program (AFIP)<\/a>, a competitive technology-neutral grant program also provides funding assistance for CNG, propane, ethanol and hydrogen fueling stations.\u00a0 AFIP provides funding for 50% of the total turnkey DC fast charger cost up to $45,000 per station. The AFIP provided funding assistance for the DC Fast Charger at M&T Bank Stadium.<\/p>\n

EVI, a Baltimore based company, has installed over 200 Level 2\/3 EVSE stations throughout the City since 2010.\u00a0\u201cThis EVSE installation not only provides state-of-the-art, Level 3 Charging Stations, but unique Level 2 Charging Stations, reminiscent of Urban Call Boxes, in Camden green,\u201d said Matthew Wade, CEO at EVI. \u201cThese charging stations utilize repurposed historic infrastructure, which maintains the sensibility and vision of the iconic Camden Yard facility,\u201d continued Wade.<\/p>\n

Camden Yards is a multimodal transportation hub, the nexus of rail, bus and interstate highway routes at the gateway to Baltimore.\u00a0 The 5,000+ parking spaces serve downtown and hospital employees, convention center visitors and commuters.<\/p>\n

In addition to the charging stations, Camden Yards will feature another green transportation option when it joins the new Baltimore Bike Share program (https:\/\/www.bmorebikeshare.com\/<\/a>) in the spring.<\/p>\n
