This grant supports local governments and nonprofits by funding energy efficiency projects specifically designed to serve low-to-moderate income Marylanders. This is a competitive program, which accounts for the regional distribution of low-to-moderate income homes throughout the state, to ensure equitable distribution. Applications are available on the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/energy.maryland.gov\/govt\/Pages\/CleanEnergyLMI.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>program web page<\/strong><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and are due by October 1, 2020.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThis energy efficiency program improves the health and safety of Marylanders who are most in need,\u201d said Governor Larry Hogan. \u201cOur administration is proud to support this innovative\u00a0 program, which maximizes the ability of the state government to partner with businesses and nonprofits to create jobs and help low-to-moderate income communities thrive.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cReducing utility bills for low income Maryland residents, while simultaneously supporting local businesses, and nonprofits is a perfect collaboration for the state,\u201d said Mary Beth Tung, MEA Director. \u201cLast year\u2019s program is anticipated to ultimately fund energy upgrades for more than 700 homes across the state, and we are eager to see who we can help this year.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Established in 2010, the Low-to-Moderate Income Energy Efficiency grant program encourages innovative ideas directed at helping communities, neighborhoods, or entire buildings take advantage of economies of scale. Funding is made possible by the Strategic Energy Investment Fund\u00a0 and subject to availability. Projects are submitted by nonprofit organizations and local governments that work directly with residents in need.
