This award honors those whose volunteer efforts on behalf of the society have significantly advanced ASES\u2019s ability to meet its mission.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">After a lengthy and distinguished 30 year career serving his country in the United States Navy, Captain David Comis (USNA \u201977) Retired, joined MEA\u00a0 as the agency\u2019s solar energy program manager. David also serves as a subject matter expert on nuclear power, battery storage and microgrid initiatives. In his role, David manages the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/energy.maryland.gov\/residential\/Pages\/incentives\/CleanEnergyGrants.aspx\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Clean Energy Grant<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> program as well as programs involving solar, and battery storage. During his time at MEA, David launched several programs to support the State of Maryland\u2019s new <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/energy.maryland.gov\/residential\/Pages\/Community-Solar.aspx\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Community Solar<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> program. David frequently interacts with Maryland residents interested in installing solar technology, as well as helping contractors and businesses working to deploy solar technology across our State. David is a major asset to the state and the Maryland Energy Administration; and is committed to helping achieve the goals of his agency by promoting affordable, reliable, and clean energy for the benefit of all State residents. David received a citation from Governor Hogan on <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=VSvbHmcXgWY\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">September 25, 2018<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In 1993, the ASES\u00a0 established this award to recognize special contributions to the Society.
