{"id":3664,"date":"2020-01-21T16:23:06","date_gmt":"2020-01-21T21:23:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/mea\/?p=3664"},"modified":"2020-01-28T08:49:08","modified_gmt":"2020-01-28T13:49:08","slug":"the-maryland-energy-administration-wants-your-help-part-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/mea\/2020\/01\/21\/the-maryland-energy-administration-wants-your-help-part-2\/","title":{"rendered":"The Maryland Energy Administration Wants Your Help Part 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/mea\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2020\/01\/email.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3666\" src=\"http:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/mea\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2020\/01\/email.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"753\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/mea\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2020\/01\/email.jpg 753w, https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/mea\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2020\/01\/email-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 753px) 100vw, 753px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) is working diligently to develop amended and updated regulations to ensure that our programs<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, the<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/energy.maryland.gov\/residential\/Pages\/incentives\/CleanEnergyGrants.aspx\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Residential Clean Energy Rebate Program<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, the<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/energy.maryland.gov\/business\/Pages\/Incentives\/CleanEnergyGrants.aspx\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0Commercial Clean Rebate Program<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, and the<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/energy.maryland.gov\/residential\/Pages\/incentives\/woodstoves.aspx\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Clean Burning Wood and Pellet Stove Rebate Program<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> are being fully and efficiently utilized. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Regulations for these programs are found in the<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dsd.state.md.us\/COMAR\/SubtitleSearch.aspx?search=14.26.04\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Code of Maryland Regulations, Title 14, Subtitle 26, Chapter 04 (COMAR 14.26.04)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. Please note, this is an update from our previous request for input on <a href=\"https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/mea\/2019\/12\/11\/the-maryland-energy-administration-wants-your-help\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">December 11, 2019<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Some changes being considered are based on prior feedback<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> from grantees, interested stakeholders, businesses, and homeowners.\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Below are some specific areas where MEA is seeking stakeholder input on these programs.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Should the program be limited to residential properties that are the primary residence of the owner or should properties that are not the primary residence of the owner (e.g., rental property, second home, etc.) also be eligible?<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Should residential properties owned by commercial entities or irrevocable trusts be eligible for a residential rebate?<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If the owner of a residential property installs an additional, completely separate system of the same technology on the same property\u00a0 (e.g., a 2nd solar photovoltaic system per property) should they potentially be eligible for a 2nd rebate?<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Residential geothermal systems are currently capped at 10 tons of capacity, should this cap be potentially expanded for larger systems?\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Should there be an annual limit to the amount of incentive that a single commercial entity should be able to receive when submitting multiple projects in a single year?<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Are there other program changes MEA should consider?\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Our work is far from done, and over the next few weeks MEA wants to hear from you regarding possible changes to these programs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Through 11:59 PM Friday, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">February 7, 2020<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, public comments may be submitted to <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">SEIFComments.MEA@Maryland.gov<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.
