Updated grant applications can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/energy.maryland.gov\/govt\/Pages\/MEIP.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>here<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/energy.maryland.gov\/govt\/Pages\/MEIP.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Maryland Anchor Customer Program<\/a><br \/>\nThis program issues grants from the Maryland Gas Expansion Fund (\u201cMGEF\u201d) to commercial, industrial, state agencies, local governments, and nonprofit energy consumers in Maryland.\u00a0 MGEF is a merger benefit resource held in a subaccount of the Strategic Energy Investment Fund (\u201cSEIF\u201d). The Maryland Energy Administration administers the Maryland Anchor Customer Program. The purpose of these grants is to assist with energy projects that help to promote natural gas distribution. Grants will be awarded on a competitive basis. However, priority will be given to applicants who own and\/or operate State facilities on the Lower Eastern Shore in Maryland.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/energy.maryland.gov\/govt\/Pages\/MEIP.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Maryland Local Distribution Company<\/a><br \/>\nThis program issues matching grants from the Maryland Gas Expansion Fund (\u201cMGEF\u201d) to licensed Local Distribution Companies (&#8220;LDCs&#8221;) to aid in natural gas expansion in Maryland. MGEF is a merger benefit resource held as a subaccount of the Strategic Energy Investment Fund (\u201cSEIF\u201d). The Maryland Energy Administration administers the Program. The purpose of these grants is to assist with energy projects that help to promote natural gas distribution.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/energy.maryland.gov\/govt\/Pages\/MEIP.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Maryland Cost in Aid of Construction Dispensation Fund\u00a0<\/a><br \/>\nThis program issues grants from the Maryland Gas Expansion Fund (\u201cMGEF\u201d) to Local Distribution Companies (\u201cLDCs\u201d) for the purpose of avoiding cross-subsidization of costs for natural gas expansion. MGEF is a merger benefit resource held as a subaccount of the Strategic Energy Investment Fund (\u201cSEIF\u201d). The Maryland Energy Administration (\u201cMEA\u201d) administers the CDF Program. These grants are designed to help a LDCs create and fund their own \u201cCost in the Aid of Construction (\u201cCIAC\u201d) Dispensation Fund,\u201d dedicated to help promote natural gas distribution by defraying costs associated with installing natural gas infrastructure from the end of the utility&#8217;s asset to the customer\u2019s meter &#8211; sometimes referred to as the \u201clast mile\u201d charge.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>NOTE:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.psc.state.md.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/Order-No.-88631-Case-No.-9449-AltaGas-WGL-Merger-Order.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">PSC Order 88631\u200b<\/a>\u00a0provided MEA funding to incentivize natural gas infrastructure expansion within Maryland. These funds\u00a0have certain provisions which require a majority of the funds be expended within the Washington Gas and Light (&#8220;WGL&#8221;) service area.
