Via a 2018 <a href=\"https:\/\/energy.maryland.gov\/Pages\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Maryland Energy Administration\u2019s (MEA)<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/energy.maryland.gov\/business\/Pages\/incentives\/MathiasAg.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kathleen A.P. Mathias Agriculture Energy Efficiency Program<\/a> award Heller\u2019s poultry facility will be able to reduce the farm\u2019s propane consumption by 13 % by converting the sidewall curtains to solid sidewalls, and adding R12 insulation in wall cavity to seal air leaks.<\/p>\n<p>Flintrock Farm\u2019s once outdated poultry houses are now updated with new weatherization upgrades and additional energy efficiency measures like:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/mea\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/12\/flintrock-farm-energy-measures.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2386\" src=\"http:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/mea\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/12\/flintrock-farm-energy-measures.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"760\" height=\"619\" srcset=\"https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/mea\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/12\/flintrock-farm-energy-measures.png 760w, https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/mea\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/12\/flintrock-farm-energy-measures-300x244.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 760px) 100vw, 760px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is an opportunity for us to emulate and emphasize our farm business values of stewardship of natural resources,&#8221; explained Heller. &#8220;The opportunity to undertake this project will simultaneously increase the energy efficiency of our farm while providing for a more viable farming business now and in the future.
