State agencies will begin implementing the plans in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe don\u2019t have to choose between a green economy and a growing economy \u2014 we can, and we must, build both at the same time,\u201d said Governor Moore. \u201cBy mounting an all-of-government approach to climate action, we will cut emissions, lower costs, and create more than 27,000 Maryland jobs. I thank my colleagues for their detailed proposals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The department also published the first\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mde.maryland.gov\/programs\/air\/ClimateChange\/Documents\/Agency%20Climate%20Implementation%20Plans\/Climate%20Subcabinet%20Report%202024.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/links-1.govdelivery.com\/CL0\/https:%252F%252Fmde.maryland.gov%252Fprograms%252Fair%252FClimateChange%252FDocuments%252FAgency%252520Climate%252520Implementation%252520Plans%252FClimate%252520Subcabinet%252520Report%2525202024.pdf\/1\/01000193e571b506-fffe5339-25f0-450e-bf31-4568f0693229-000000\/C1pfN_8rd8JumdsRpv6VMdKI6XvBMFBCRFpT3t5RahE%3D384&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1734810007041000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0tt_jMYI05KXE4R9-ODhgu\">progress report<\/a>\u00a0of the subcabinet, led by Maryland Secretary of the Environment Serena McIlwain and Chief Sustainability Officer Meghan Conklin.\u00a0The report outlines a holistic approach to tackling climate change that prioritizes collaboration and coordination between all principal state agencies, as well as ongoing implementation of $13.5 billion in federal funding that the Moore-Miller Administration has secured since 2023. The report proposes a suite of metrics that will be regularly tracked to ensure agencies are advancing policies and programs that maximize positive environmental, economic and human health benefits for Marylanders.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is an unprecedented effort to focus on climate change as one government,\u201d said Maryland Secretary of Environment Serena McIlwain. \u201cI want to thank Governor Moore for bringing all agencies together to contribute to addressing our climate challenge and meeting our goals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Moore-Miller Administration earlier this year announced a $90 million down payment on the state\u2019s climate plan to help make Maryland a leader in clean energy and the greenest state in the country.
