Jurisdictions in these regions may also activate heat\u00a0response plans.<\/p>\n<p>According to the DHMH Maryland Heat Emergency Plan, an Extreme Heat Event is a\u00a0weather condition with excessive heat and\/or humidity that has the potential to cause heat-\u00a0related illnesses. It is also defined as a day or series of days when the Heat Index reaches\u00a0105 degrees Fahrenheit. DHMH activates the Plan any time the forecast shows a high\u00a0chance of reaching the trigger point of 105 degrees.<\/p>\n<p>Additional information, including the State Heat Plan, Heat Reports, FAQs, and tips is\u00a0posted under Extreme Heat under Hot Topics at www.dhmh.maryland.gov.<\/p>\n<p>Daily Heat Reports are posted after 4 p.m. on the DHMH home page under Reports during\u00a0the current weather emergency.<\/p>\n<p>Marylanders in need of a cooling center should visit the state\u2019s Cooling Center link at\u00a0www.maryland.gov.<\/p>\n<p>DHMH is continuing to work with preparedness and response partners to monitor\u00a0conditions at skilled nursing facilities and dialysis centers and is responding to requests for\u00a0assistance from local health departments.<\/p>\n<p>For additional weather emergency-related information and inquiries, contact the on-duty\u00a0Public Information Officer at the State\u2019s Emergency Operations Center at 410-517-3600 or\u00a0log on to<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mema.state.md.us\/\">www.mema.state.md.us<\/a>.
