{"id":4525,"date":"2026-05-18T13:10:43","date_gmt":"2026-05-18T17:10:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/mde\/?p=4525"},"modified":"2026-05-18T13:10:43","modified_gmt":"2026-05-18T17:10:43","slug":"maryland-and-quebec-join-forces-on-baltimore-climate-and-sustainable-mobility-showcase","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/mde\/2026\/05\/18\/maryland-and-quebec-join-forces-on-baltimore-climate-and-sustainable-mobility-showcase\/","title":{"rendered":"Maryland and Qu\u00e9bec Join Forces on Baltimore Climate and Sustainable Mobility Showcase"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em><strong>Partners Sign Agreement to Work Together on Solutions<\/strong><\/em><br><br>BALTIMORE (May 18, 2026) \u2013 The State of Maryland and the Government of Qu\u00e9bec today hosted the first-ever Smart &amp; Sustainable Mobility Showcase in Baltimore featuring the latest equipment, vehicles, and technology, from transit vehicles to smart infrastructure.<br><br>Hosted at the Center for the Built Environment and Infrastructure Studies at Morgan State University, the showcase brought together Maryland and Qu\u00e9bec leaders, transit agencies, clean transportation companies, researchers, and private sector innovators to advance collaboration on electrification, clean transportation technologies, and climate-focused economic development.<br><br>\u201cMaryland is proud to partner with Qu\u00e9bec to move clean transportation from ambition to action,\u201d said Serena McIlwain, Secretary of the Maryland Department of the Environment. \u201cTogether, we are demonstrating how subnational governments can lead on climate action through practical collaboration, shared investment, and scalable solutions that reduce pollution, strengthen communities, and support long-term economic competitiveness.\u201d<br><br>\u201cThe Maryland Department of Transportation is excited to collaborate with our partners on the first ever Maryland Smart &amp; Sustainable Mobility Showcase,\u201d said Maryland Transportation Secretary Katie Thomson. \u201cThe event highlights Maryland and Qu\u00e9bec\u2019s leadership and innovations in clean, smart and sustainable mobility.
