LAUREL\u00a0<\/strong>(October 30, 2013) \u2014\u00a0Tomorrow,\u00a0Thursday, October 31<\/strong>, Governor Martin\u00a0O\u2019Malley will host the \u201cBetter Choices, Better Results Forum – Sustainability\u201d — the third in a series of statewide forums that will foster an ongoing, collaborative\u00a0dialogue on the O\u2019Malley-Brown Administration’s strategic goals. Stakeholders from\u00a0across the state will engage in a roundtable discussion about the better choices we\u2019ve\u00a0made together, measuring progress, and delivering results to strengthen and grow\u00a0Maryland\u2019s middle class and create a better, stronger Maryland for our children.<\/p>\n

Tomorrow\u2019s forum will highlight key environmental initiatives such as tracking\u00a0progress on Chesapeake Bay restoration through BayStat, sustaining our resource-based industries and fostering sustainable communities and will feature a dialogue\u00a0with expert panelists that will lay out a vision that continues to protect Maryland\u2019s\u00a0environment and public health while expanding innovation and green economic\u00a0opportunity in the State.<\/p>\n

The O\u2019Malley-Brown Administration is making better choices that are leading\u00a0to better results. Maryland is #1 in the nation for agricultural land preservation,\u00a0according to the Maryland Agricultural Land Preservation Foundation. Since 2007,\u00a0we\u2019ve preserved over 47,000 acres of prime agricultural land on 372 Maryland farms.\u00a0Maryland is a Top Ten state for Energy Efficiency for the second year in a row\u00a0according to the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy. Together with\u00a0the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the other Bay watershed states, we\u00a0developed the nation\u2019s first major watershed pollution control plan under the authority\u00a0of the Clean Water Act to achieve water quality standards for the Chesapeake Bay and\u00a0meet our 2025 water quality goals for Chesapeake Bay restoration.<\/p>\n
