Department of the Environment now accepting applications for 2015 Environmental Science Student Award and Internship Program<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Winner will receive a paid internship with the Department during summer 2015<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

BALTIMORE, MD (November 21, 2014<\/span><\/span>)<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 The Maryland Department of the Environment is now accepting applications for the 2015 Environmental Science Student Award and Internship Program. \u00a0The\u00a0Award\u00a0recognizes high school seniors who have excelled in environmental science both inside and outside the classroom.\u00a0 Students who have demonstrated extraordinary leadership and participation in environmental projects in school or their community such as recycling drives, school beautification projects, stream or litter cleanups and other types of environmental projects are encouraged to apply.\u00a0The grand prize winner will receive a paid internship at MDE during summer 2015. The second-place winner will receive $500 and the third-place winner will receive $250.<\/p>\n

The deadline for nominations is\u00a0May 1, 2015<\/span><\/span>.\u00a0Application forms<\/a>\u00a0and instructions\u00a0are available on MDE\u2019s website and may be submitted by email to\u00a0Nadine.Jackson-Bey@maryland.gov<\/a>\u00a0or by mail to: Maryland Department of the Environment, Office of the Secretary, 1800 Washington Boulevard, 7th\u00a0Floor, Baltimore MD\u00a0 21230, Attention: Nadine Jackson-Bey.<\/p>\n

In 2014, the Department advertised the Environmental Science Student Award as a pilot project with three environmental magnet high schools in the Baltimore area.\u00a0 This is the first year that MDE has opened the award and internship to all Maryland high school seniors.<\/p>\n
