**MEDIA ADVISORY** MDE Secretary to kick off the Stormwater Innovations Roadshow at Baltimore Community ToolBank in Baltimore City<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

BALTIMORE, MD (October 28, 2014<\/span><\/span>) –<\/strong>\u00a0Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) Secretary Robert M. Summers will kick-off the first stop of the Stormwater Innovations Roadshow at\u00a0Baltimore Community ToolBank<\/a>\u00a0on Wednesday<\/span><\/span>\u00a0in southwest Baltimore City. The Roadshow will highlight the stormwater remediation efforts of government, communities and citizens around the State. A short press conference at the ToolBank highlighting its recently completed rain garden and new plans for a \u201cstormwater factory\u201d will be followed by a tour of the facility.<\/span><\/p>\n

WHY:<\/strong>\u00a0Urban\u00a0and suburban stormwater pollution accounts for about 20 percent of the nutrient pollution into our rivers, streams, lakes and drinking water reservoirs and entering the Chesapeake Bay. Managing and\u00a0preventing stormwater run-off and pollution from entering our waterways is crucial to restoring the Bay.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
