Maryland Green Registry names 2015 Leadership Award winners
Winners to be recognized at an evening event with U.S. Green Building Council, Maryland Chapter on July 29 in Baltimore

(BALTIMORE, MD – July 20, 2015) Maryland Department of the Environment Deputy Secretary Mary Tung will recognize Maryland Green Registry leadership winners including Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems, Prince George’s Community College, Hord Coplan Macht, MedImmune/AstraZeneca and Honest Tea at the sixth annual Maryland Green Registry Leadership Awards onWednesday, July 29, in Baltimore. This year, the Registry has partnered with the U.S. Green Building Council, Maryland Chapter  on the event.

In addition to the leadership awards, the Registry will also announce the collective annual environmental results and cost savings as reported by all 450 Maryland Green Registry member organizations over the past year and the total results of the Registry’s Compost Challenge.

WHO:  MDE Deputy Secretary Mary Beth Tung, members of the Maryland Green Registry and U.S. Green Building Council, Maryland Chapter, and other members of the business and environmental communities.

WHEN:  Wednesday, July 29, 2015, 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.  The awards presentation begins at 6:30 p.m.

WHERE:  Nick’s Fish House, 2600 Insulator Drive, Baltimore, MD. Free onsite parking.

WHY:  The Leadership Awards recognize organizations that have shown a strong commitment to implementing sustainable practices, demonstrating measurable results and continually improving environmental performance. The Maryland Green Registry is a state program with more than 450 member organizations engaged in a wide range of sustainable practices.  They include manufacturers, schools, healthcare facilities, nonprofits, and government.  Each year, the Maryland Green Registry Leadership Awards are presented to five member organizations that have shown a strong commitment to implementing sustainable practices, demonstrating measurable results and continually improving environmental performance.
