MDE to host 3rd annual Clean Water Innovations Trade Show, present 2013 Smart, Green & Growing Award

BALTIMORE, MD (January 6, 2014) – The Maryland Department of the Environment will host the 2013 Smart, Green & Growing Clean Water Innovations Trade Show, an event that brings together businesses, local governments, developers and other stakeholders to find cost-effective, innovative and efficient ways to reduce polluted stormwater runoff and improve water quality in local waterways and the Chesapeake Bay. At this event, MDE Secretary Robert M. Summers will also present the 2013 Smart, Green & Growing Award for Innovations in Stormwater Management.

WHO:  Robert M. Summers, Secretary, Maryland Department of the Environment; Joe Gill, Secretary, Maryland Department of Natural Resources; approximately 300 representatives from federal, state, and local agencies; stakeholder groups; and water quality businesses. The trade show will feature 39 exhibitors specializing in environmentally friendly clean water business solutions.

WHEN:  Tuesday, January 7, 2014, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.*  Awards presentation at Noon.

               TRADE SHOW SCHEDULE:

9 a.m.: Trade Show exhibits open
Noon: Formal program with SGG Award presentation
12:30 p.m.: Formal program ends/Trade Show exhibits re-open
1 p.m.: Trade Show ends

*In case of inclement weather, the Trade Show will follow the State of Maryland closure protocol.  If liberal leave is in effect for Maryland State employees, the event will be postponed to a date to be determined.*

WHERE:  Maryland Department of the Environment headquarters at Montgomery Park auditorium, 1800 Washington Boulevard, Baltimore, Maryland 21230

WHY:  The one-day event allows green vendors to exhibit innovative products and services for environmentally sensitive site design and restoration of wetlands, streams and other ecosystems.
