ANNAPOLIS, MD (March 3, 2025)\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 This March, Maryland\u2019s Best<\/a> \u2013 Maryland\u2019s statewide marketing program connecting consumers to fresh Maryland products \u2013 is celebrating Maryland Wine Month <\/strong><\/a>by pairing locally-made wines with your favorite Maryland foods!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Throughout the month \u201cSomm<\/em>thing Tasty\u201d will feature a wine expert \u2013 or \u201csommelier\u201d \u2013 who will expertly match different varieties of Maryland wine with famous Maryland snacks including Otterbein\u2019s Cookies, Goetze\u2019s candies, crab cakes, wild-caught Chesapeake Blue Catfish and more! New videos demonstrating the how and why of the pairing will premiere every Wednesday in March on Maryland\u2019s Best social media channels.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI am looking forward to promoting exceptional wines with delicious foods in a fun and lighthearted way,\u201d<\/span>said Maryland Department of Agriculture Secretary Kevin Atticks<\/strong>. \u201cPairing Maryland wines and Maryland foods is a winning combination sure to delight everyone.\u00a0 Fun fact: Maryland wineries are required to use at least 75 percent Maryland-grown grapes in order to label a wine as Maryland wine.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

There are just over 100 Maryland wineries throughout the State, with 96 using a majority of Maryland-grown grapes. As of 2024, there are 234 Maryland farms represented in these wines. With twelve different Maryland wine trails<\/a> across the state, Marylanders will have ample opportunity to sample and pair Maryland wines with delicious Maryland treats.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Maryland Wineries Association is excited to partner with Maryland\u2019s Best to promote wineries across the state in a way that connects people to foods they already have happy memories with,\u201d said Maryland Wine Association Executive Director Janna Howley<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

New videos of Somm<\/em>thing Tasty will be released every Wednesday during March on Maryland\u2019s Best Instagram<\/a> and Facebook<\/a> as well as the Maryland Winery\u2019s Association Instagram<\/a> and Facebook<\/a> pages.
