Most lawns will recover on their own once the rains return and cooler temperatures prevail,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 1.2;margin-top: 0pt;margin-bottom: 0pt\"><span 12pt\"><strong>Will My Grass Recover?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"margin-top: 0px;margin-bottom: 0px;padding-inline-start: 48px\">\n<li style=\"font-size: 10pt;font-family: 'Noto Sans Symbols', sans-serif\">\n<p style=\"line-height: 1.2;margin-top: 0pt;margin-bottom: 0pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: 'times new roman', serif\">It\u2019s ok to let established lawns go dormant during the hot, dry summer months<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-size: 10pt;font-family: 'Noto Sans Symbols', sans-serif\">\n<p style=\"line-height: 1.2;margin-top: 0pt;margin-bottom: 0pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: 'times new roman', serif\">Dormancy is a natural survival mechanism<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-size: 10pt;font-family: 'Noto Sans Symbols', sans-serif\">\n<p style=\"line-height: 1.2;margin-top: 0pt;margin-bottom: 0pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: 'times new roman', serif\">Dormant lawns continue to protect water quality by holding soil and nutrients in place<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-size: 10pt;font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;font-weight: bold\">\n<p style=\"line-height: 1.2;margin-top: 0pt;margin-bottom: 0pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-weight: 400;font-family: 'times new roman', serif\">Late summer\/early fall is an ideal time to reseed most Maryland lawns<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-size: 10pt;font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;font-weight: bold\">\n<p style=\"line-height: 1.2;margin-top: 0pt;margin-bottom: 0pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-weight: 400;font-family: 'times new roman', serif\">We recommend turf-type tall fescue, which has a thicker blade and deeper roots to help withstand Maryland summers<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"line-height: 1.2;margin-top: 0pt;margin-bottom: 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', serif;font-size: 12pt\"><strong>Mowing<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"margin-top: 0px;margin-bottom: 0px;padding-inline-start: 48px\">\n<li style=\"font-size: 10pt;font-family: 'Noto Sans Symbols', sans-serif\">\n<p style=\"line-height: 1.2;margin-top: 0pt;margin-bottom: 0pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: 'times new roman', serif\">Raise mower blades to a higher setting to allow the grass to shade its own roots and retain soil moisture<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-size: 10pt;font-family: 'Noto Sans Symbols', sans-serif\">\n<p style=\"line-height: 1.2;margin-top: 0pt;margin-bottom: 0pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: 'times new roman', serif\">To prevent burning, avoid mowing in the middle of the day<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-size: 10pt;font-family: 'Noto Sans Symbols', sans-serif\">\n<p style=\"line-height: 1.2;margin-top: 0pt;margin-bottom: 0pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: 'times new roman', serif\">Do not mow sans-serif\">\n<p style=\"line-height: 1.2;margin-top: 0pt;margin-bottom: 0pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: 'times new roman', serif\">Remember, most established lawns will recover on Environment<\/span><\/a> to see if water use restrictions are in place and if grass watering is prohibited<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-size: 10pt;font-family: 'Noto Sans Symbols', sans-serif\">\n<p style=\"line-height: 1.2;margin-top: 0pt;margin-bottom: 0pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: 'times new roman', serif\">If watering is allowed, do so early in the morning to minimize evaporation and maximize absorption<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-size: 10pt;font-family: 'Noto Sans Symbols', sans-serif\">\n<p style=\"line-height: 1.2;margin-top: 0pt;margin-bottom: 0pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: 'times new roman', serif\">Water deeply and less frequently to promote deep root growth<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"line-height: 1.2;margin-top: 0pt;margin-bottom: 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', serif;font-size: 12pt\"><strong>Care for Your Lawn<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul
